OAO RZD bought 947.7 K tons of rails in 2016, the company reports. All the rails were acquired from Russian manufacturers. EvrazHolding delivered 677.8 K tons and MECHEL delivered 269.9 K tons to OAO RZD. The rails were used for both newly built links and rebuilding existing lines. OAO RZD acquired 628.4 K tons of rails in 2015. All of these were delivered by EvrazHolding.

OAO RZD is working at a concept of a freight high-speed train, the PRIME quotes OAO RZD First Vice President Alexander Misharin. The trains would operate at up to 300 km/h. RZD 2016 Loco Acquisition and Modernization Results
