RZD to Buy 121 Electric Locos in 2016

OAO RZD is to acquire 121 electric locomotive from Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Building Plant, the TASS quotes OAO RZD President Oleg Belozerov.

“We ordered 124 electric locomotives last year. We are planning to buy 121 electric locos this year”, Mr. Belozerov said.

He also noted that it is important to get the funds for the rolling stock acquisitions. “As we attract investments from the National Wealth Fund, we have to clarify the project justification. Therefore, we need to go through several steps and these locomotives would be ordered”, Mr. Belozerov said.

OAO RZD expects to acquire 495 locomotives and modernize 203 locomotive sections in 2016.
