ShAAZ to Increase Loco Modernization Portfolio

Shadrinsk Automobile Units Plant (ShAAZ) is to increase its modernization portfolio to TGM6D shunting locomotives, the Interfax reports. The company is already modernizing TEM2 and GM4B shunters.

The decision was taken at a meeting of UGMK-Holding, ShAAZ, Woodward Mega (Hungarian company that designed locomotive modernizations at ShAAZ), Cummins Inc. and Voith Turbo.

Woodward Mega is already working at the modernization design for the TGM6D; the first locomotive is to be modernized in 2016.

ShAAZ is part of UGMK Holding (66.791%). The plant mainly modernizes locomotives operated by UGMK facilities.

UGMK is one of Russia’s largest mining holdings.
