2000+ Freight Cars with Ukrainian Bogies to be Repaired until End-2016

Over 2,000 freight cars equipped with bogies manufactured by the Ukrainian Kremenchug Steel Works have to be depot-repaired until end-2016, the RIA Novosti reports. This decision was taken at the meeting held at the Russian Federal Service for Transport Inspection.

The problem was with side beams manufactured by Kremenchug Steel Works in 2013: one of these side beams cracked and caused a derailment at the North Railway.

The Federal Service suggested that companies operating freight cars with such beams provide a corrective action item plan until February 19 so that no similar accidents occur.
