Moscow Metro Will Not Operate Driverless Trains

Moscow Metro will not switch to driverless trains, the Interfax quotes Moscow Metro Head Dmitry Pegov.
“Why do we need it, what is the benefit?”, he wondered. “Moscow Metro has a huge passenger turnover - 2.5 B passengers p.a. Probably, passengers, including myself, will feel more comfortable in a train with an operator inside”.
Automated systems have to assist the operator, but not replace him as this is safety-critical.
Despite that, Moscow Metro is testing semi-automated trains.
