GE and Bombardier to Provide Locos to Ukraine for Test Operation

GE and Bombardier will provide their locomotives to Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsya) for test operation, the RZD-Partner quotes Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelyan.

“Such manufacturers as General Electric and Bombardier will bring their locomotives to Ukraine in the next months so that they are operated at the Ukrainian Railways for 3 - 6 months”, he said. After the test operation Ukraine will select a locomotive for further rolling stock fleet renewal.

Ukraine’s traction rolling stock wear is within 71.6% (mainline electric locomotives) to 99.4% (mainline diesel locomotives). The Ministry of Infrastructure estimates investments required to renew the rolling stock at 520 M USD within the next five years.
