China to Build Samara Airport Shuttle Line
China is to invest into Samara airport shuttle line, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports. A respective memorandum of cooperation was signed by Samara Oblast Governor Nikolai Merkushkin and China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC).
The airport shuttle line is to be constructed for the 2018 Football World Cup to be held in Russia. “It is important to have speed operation by 2018”, Mr. Merkushkin said. “A lot of players and guests will come to Samara”.
CRCC considers two options to build the line. Under the first, the current railway link is to be modernized. In this case the operational speed is to be increased to 200 km/h. Under the second, a new high-speed line would be built with operational speed of 300 km/h. The option is to be selected by August 2016.
