UVZ and Uralkhim-Trans to Jointly Develop Chemical Freight Cars


Uralvagonzavod and Uralkhim-Trans will be jointly developing innovative rolling stock for the chemical industry, the Gudok quotes Uralkhim. The companies have signed a respective agreement at the Chemistry-2016 Exhibition.

Under the agreement, the parties would develop a product line of the rolling stock with improved specifications. Uralkhim will take part in drafting technical assignments for freight car development and test operation. Uralkhim is already testing experimental hoppers. In addition to that, the parties are looking to jointly develop new tank cars to transport ammonia and acids.

Uralvagonzavod is one of Russia’s leading freight car manufacturers. The company is fully owned by Russian Federation. Uralvagonzavod’s 2015 output was 3,490 freight cars (-81.9% to 2014).
