Metrovagonmash to Supply 300 Three-Section Trams to Moscow

Metrovagonmash won Moscow’s tender for 300 three-section trams, the Gudok quotes Transmashholding Press Service. The tender was announced by Mosgortrans (Moscow public transport operator) on August 3; results were announced on September 23.
There were three bidders in the tender - Metrovagonmash, Stadler Minsk and Khrunichev State Space Science and Manufacturing Corporation.
Metrovagonmash offered “a little more than” 56 B RUB (873 M USD). The trams will have to be delivered in 2017 - 2019. Moscow is to sign a life cycle contract with Metrovagonmash, under which the manufacturer will provide maintenance to the rolling stock within its life set at 30 years.
The project is to be executed in cooperation with PC Transportation Systems. The trams will be manufactured at the Tver Car-Building Plant (TVZ).
Transmashholding is sure that the new trams will become one of Moscow’s business cards. “This is especially important in view of the 2018 World Cup and lots of foreign tourists who will come to Moscow”, Transmashholding General Director Kirill Lipa said.
