Kazakhstan to Establish Company to Operate Mainline Rail Network

Kazakhstan Railways (Kazakstan Temir Zholy, KTZ) is to go through another series of reforms, the RZD-Partner reports. The Kazakhstan Government would likes to establish a company that would manage the rail infrastructure.
The company called AO KTZ-Infrastructure will provide access to mainline network for national and private operators. The company is to be Government-regulated.
“The goal of the reform is achieving compliance of the pricing, service and contract policies for freight transportation to the current requirements of the diversified transportation and logistics market”, the Ministry of Investments and Development commented. “The reform is to be executed as part of the governmental policy for transit transportation development”.
