OEVRZ to Supply 162 Metro Cars to St. Petersburg by 2018

October Electric Multiple Unit Plant (OEVRZ, Transmashholding’s asset) is to supply 27 six-car metro trains to St. Petersburg Metro, the TASS reports. A respective contract was signed at OEVRZ celebrating its 190th anniversary.

“We will supply 162 cars within the next two years”, OEVRZ General Director Boris Bogaryrev said. He noted that the cars’ local content is 90%.

The trains are AC-driven, which allows saving up to 30% of electric power. Noise was reduced, special devices for disabled passengers were installed. The amount of the contract is not disclosed.

The first train has to be supplied to St. Petersburg Metro by June 30, 2017. The trains are supplied as preparation fro the 2018 Football World Cup.
