Knorr-Bremse - FGK JV Relocated to St. Petersburg

Knorr-Bremse 1520, a joint venture co-established by Federal Freight Company (FGK) and Knorr-Bremse, is moving from Tver to St. Petersburg, the Vedomosti quotes Vladimir Rutkas, President - Knorr-Bremse CIS Holding.
“We had our first manufacturing facility in Voronezh, then we moved to the North - we had a facility in Tver, and now we finally relocating to St. Petersburg”, Mr. Rutkas said. “Having received support from local authorities and investors we realized that it was a right decision. St. Petersburg is an engineering center with extensive qualified human resources”.
Mr. Rutkas also noted that the manufacture of braking systems is practically moved to St. Petersburg. One more manufacturing site not related to braking systems is to be retained in Moscow Oblast.
At the same time OAO RZD is ready to sign contracts with Knorr-Bremse 1520, the Interfax quotes OAO RZD Senior Vice President Valentin Gapanovich.
“We can realistically talk about supplying braking systems to 1200 Lastochka (Desiro RUS) coaches - these are realistic orders, they are confirmed; the Russian Government is to have a meeting next week, at which OAO RZD’s investment program is to be approved”.
Mr. Gapanovich also noted that Knorr-Bremse 1520 will supply braking systems to locomotives, multiple units and passenger coaches. “The order is to be guaranteed for these, too, and I hope the Government will support our investment program, which includes components manufactured here, in St. Petersburg”, Mr. Gapanovich concluded.
