UDMZ to Build a Gas Piston Engine Prototype in 2017

Ural Diesel and Motor Plant (UDMZ, Sinara Transport Machines’ subsidiary) is to manufacture a prototype of the gas piston engine, the Interfax reports. The engine is to be installed at the diesel locomotives manufactured in Russia.
“Sinara Transport Machines is working at designing a gas piston engine”, the company’s representative said. “A prototype for diesel locomotives is to be manufactured in 2017”.
Earlier UDMZ commissioned a new workshop that would manufacture DM-185 new-generation diesel engines. The company expects to reach its design output of 300 engines p.a. by 2018. OAO RZD Senior VP Valentin Gapanovich, who visited UDMZ in November commented, “UDMZ’s gas piston engines will have demand from the diesel locomotive building industry”.
Sinara Transport Machines is a holding within Sinara Group. The company designs and manufactures locomotives and its components.
