Uzbekistan to Invest 170.1 M USD to Build New Tashkent Metro Line


Uzbekistan Government will invest 170.1 M USD into building a new line of the Tashkent Metro, the UzDaily quotes Uzbekistan Ministry of Finance. The Sergili line will link four streets of the Uzbekistan capital. The metro line will be built in 2017 - 2020.

The project will be financed by the Uzbekistan State Budget (70.1 M USD) and Uzbekistan Fund for Reconstruction and Development (a 35.1 M USD loan). The balance 64.9 M USD will be attracted from other sources and through loans.

The loan attracted from the Uzbekistan Fund for Reconstruction and Development will be used to “purchase import equipment, materials and spare parts, conduct construction-assembly works, etc.”.

The project participants received tax and customs preferences till 1 January 2021. The 8-km Sergili Line will consist of six stations and will be built 6 m above the land surface.

The project is to be executed by Uzbekistan Railways (Uzbekiston Temir Yollari).
