RZD to Buy 450 Locomotives in 2017 at 1 B USD

OAO RZD is to buy 450 new locomotives in 2017, the company reports. OAO RZD is to invest 57.2 B RUB (0.97 B USD) into its locomotive fleet renewal.

The operator will buy 210 electric locomotives, including: - 21 passenger electric locomotives (EP1M - 4 pcs.; EP20 - 4 pcs.; EP2K - 13 pcs.); - 189 freight electric locomotives (2ES5K - 51 pcs.; 3ES5K - 45 pcs.; 3ES4K - 4 pcs.; 4ES4K - 5 pcs.; 2ES6 - 74 pcs.; 2ES10 - 10 pcs.).

OAO RZD will also acquire 240 diesel locomotives, including: - 19 passenger diesel locomotives (TEP70BS - 19 pcs.); - 86 freight diesel locomotives (2TE25KM - 86 pcs.); - 129 shunting locomotives (TEM18DM - 101 pcs.; TEM14 - 28 pcs.); - 5 shunting tractive modules (MTM-45 - 5 pcs.); - 1 gas turbine locomotive (GT1h - 1 pc.).

OAO RZD is to invest 3 B RUB (50.7 M USD) into its locomotive fleet modernization.

In 2016 the operator acquired 493 new locomotives at the total of 67.9 B RUB (1.15 B USD).
