Freight One to Sell Second-Hand Freight Cars to Ukraine
Freight One will sell second-hand freight cars to its fully-owned subsidiary, AO Staltrans, Interfax reports. The respective contract was signed on March 22.
The amount of the deal is not disclosed but “it is not more than 202.1 M RUB incl. VAT”, Freight One commented.
Staltrans, in its turn, will sell these cars to Azovevrotrans (AET), a Ukrainian operator co-owned by its General Manager Andrey Glushko and his partner Yury Romanenko.
The reason for selling these freight cars is a ban on freight car life extension recently approved by the Russian Government, Interfax’s source reports. The cars will thus be used in a country with no ban.
In 2016 Freight One cut 40,000 freight cars.
Freight One is Russia’s largest freight car operator. The company is part of UCL Rail Group owned by the Russian entrepreneur Vladimir Lisin.
