EAEU May Allow Operation of Industrial Shunting Locomotives without Certification

Eurasian Economic Commission (EAEU) may allow operation of shunting locomotives that with extended life until August 2, 2018, the TASS reports. These locomotives, however, will have to be operated at “non-common track”, i.e. be operated within facilities only.
The Russian Ministry of Transport started drafting a respective decision. Under the decision, the shunters will be used “without mandatory evaluation of compliance and marking with a national sign of compliance”.
Under the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union No. TR TS 001/2011, a ban on operating all locomotives with extended life without modernization. Initially, there were two extensions of the ban enforcement, now - until August 2017.
